About the musicians:

Agnieszka Marucha (violin)
Soloist, chamber musician, pedagogue and prizewinner of international violin competitions. Since 2017 the Leader of the Violinofonica Quartet and a member of the Galant Piano Trio. A versatile musician performing a wide repertoire from all periods on both modern and periods instruments. She holds a post-PhD diploma in Musical Arts received from the F. Chopin Music University, where she is currently an Assistant Professor of violin and chamber music. In 2013-2014 she was a visiting professor at Keimyung University in Daegu (South Korea). She is regularly invited to give masterclasses at music courses such as Bosa Antica in Sardinia, Italy, Chopin-Górecki in Warsaw and in Łańcut. Recently Ms Marucha has given master classes in Brunei, China, Denmark, Italy and Scotland.
A prolific recording artist, she has released 9 CD albums, 7 of which included world premiere recordings. Her latest project was a CD featuring world premiere recordings of violin concerto by Raul Koczalski (AP0504).
In 2013 she gave the Korean premiere Lutoslawski’s Chain II with the Keymyung Symphony Orchestra in Daegu, and in 2014 she was the winner of the Fryderyk Polish Phonographic Academy Award (Contemporary Chamber Music category with Opium String Quartet).

Agnieszka Marucha (violin)
Winner of numerous prizes including the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition and the Parkhouse Award, violinist Rafal Zambrzycki-Payne was born in Lodz, Poland. He studied with Wen Zhou Li at the Yehudi Menuhin School and at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and subsequently in Vienna with Gerhard Schulz.
As a soloist, Rafal has appeared with the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonia, Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony, BBC Concert Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Northern Sinfonia. Further afield he performed with the KZN Philharmonic in Durban, Johannesburg Philharmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia, Armenian Chamber Orchestra, Danubia Symphony in Budapest, Munich and Zurich Chamber Orchestras among others. He had the honour of working on several occasions with the late Lord Menuhin as conductor. Rafal gave Polish premieres of Hanna Kulenty’s 2nd Violin Concerto with the Polish National Radio Symphony at the Warsaw Autumn Festival as well as Ben Foskett’s Violin Concerto and „Fora” by Alistair Greig with OMN New Music Orchestra. He performed Khatchaturian’s Violin Concerto for the composer’s centenary celebrations with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and gave the British premiere of Alexander Arutunian’s Violin Concerto, as well as performing the work at the composer’s 85th Birthday Concert in Yerevan. Most recent engagements have included a tour with the Polish Youth Philharmonic, a recording of Zbigniew Baginski’s Violin Concerto with the Polish National Radio Symphony as well as performances with the National Opera Orchestra and the State Youth Orchestra in Armenia.
