
About Hong Kong Chamber Music Society (HKCMS)
The HKCMS, founded in 1975, stands as the first chamber society in Hong Kong and operates as a dedicated non-profit organization. Over the past 50 years, we have been devoted in maintain the beautiful traditions of the original chamber music, consistently raising public interest in the creation and appreciation of classical music, ensuring that everyone can experience the joy of music in a nostalgic, relaxed, and elegant setting in the heart of the city.

Our programs showcase a diverse range of musical works, from timeless classics to contemporary pieces, making high-quality chamber music accessible to both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts. About Our Concert
HKCMS has had the honour to hold previous events at venues such as Government House, The Peninsula Hong Kong, The Ladies Recreation Club, The Hong Kong Club, The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, The Pacific Club (Kowloon), The American Club, and more local exceptional venues.
Throughout our concert histories, we have collaborated with enormous overseas and Hong Kong musicians and ensembles from different musical professions. Apart from introducing overseas artists and ensembles to Hong Kong, we also pair them up with local artists to create new possibilities. Esteemed professional musicians such as Wang Liang (Second Associate Concertmaster), Huang Naiwei, Andrew Simon (Principal Clarinet) from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and Warren Lee have been steadfast supporters of our society’s vision and have performed with us over many years.
Overseas ensembles and artists that have performed for HKCMS include Helsyd Piano Trio (Finland), The Fidelio Trio (UK), Amatis Piano Trio (Austria), Malaysian Piano Trio (Malaysia), Wiener Mozart Trio (Australia), Zurich String Trio (Switzerland), Amati String Quartet (Italy), Coolidge String Quartet, the Concordia Ensemble (Australia), Maha Zahid (paino), Jonathan Weigle (cello), Zheeyoung Moon (piano), Avan Yu (paino), Adam Heron (piano), Chi Ho Han (piano), David Knowles (piano), James Brawn (piano), Una Barry (soprano), Rafal Zambryczki-Payne (violin), Agnieszka Marucha (violin), Simon Mulligan (piano), Evelyn Chang (piano), and more internationally acclaimed performers.

Laurence Scofield
Described by the Wall Street Journal as “The Evangelist of Opera,” Laurence Scofield has devoted over two decades to making classical music and opera more accessible through his work as a producer, educator, broadcaster, and cultural advocate. He has created innovative projects such as The Traviata Story, an acclaimed collaboration with the Royal Opera House, La Scala Milan, and the Salzburg Festival, which introduced Verdi’s masterpiece to tens of thousands of new listeners across Asia. Over the course of his career, he has presented more than 600 live performances and screenings, bringing leading international artists and diverse repertoires to audiences around the world.
As Chairperson of the Hong Kong Chamber Music Society, Laurence brings this same passion and vision to Hong Kong’s chamber music scene. In alignment with HKCMS’s mission—preserving the elegance of European salon traditions while nurturing young talent and fostering international collaboration—he continues to champion music as an intimate, inspiring, and transformative experience for all.
